Spiritual maturity is not measured primarily by vocabulary, visibility, gifting, or years in church. Scripture points us toward Christlike character and faithful responsibility.
Five marks of maturity
- Increasing responsiveness to God. Mature believers do not merely hear; they obey.
- Stability under pressure. Trials reveal whether convictions have become character.
- Discernment. Maturity learns to distinguish good from evil and truth from attractive error.
- Responsibility for others. Mature sons become nourishment, encouragement, and guidance to others.
- Christlike love. Knowledge and gifting are governed by love.
