Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 11:17–34
In today’s passage, Apostle Paul addresses the Corinthians church concerning their attitude towards the Lord’s Supper. What should have been a moment of unity had become a place of division and self-centeredness. Some ate without waiting for others. Some indulged while others went hungry. Paul calls them back to the heart of the meal: the Lord Himself. Communion is sacred. It is a moment of remembrance, humility and shared grace.
Here are three truths about today’s passage

The Lord’s table calls us back to unity. The Lord’s table is meant to unite us. The Lord’s Supper reminds us that we belong to one another. We come as one body, one family, one people redeemed by grace.

Communion invites us to remember Christ with reverence. “This is My body… this cup is the new covenant in My blood.” This is the center of the communion: Jesus. His sacrifice. His covenant and His love. Communion is not routine. It is the moment we pause and let the cross steady our hearts again.

Self-examination keeps our hearts tender before God.
“Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup.” The Lord’s table invites us to slow down, search our hearts, and bring anything broken into the light of His mercy. Self-examination is not about earning worthiness. It rather helps us approach Christ with sincerity and openness.
