Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 11:1–16
In today’s passage, Apostle Paul speaks to a topic that touches culture, worship, and the posture of the heart. The Corinthians were wrestling with questions about honor, authority, and how their outward actions reflected their inward devotion. Paul’s response was to remind them that how we carry ourselves in worship should reflect the God we belong to. Our lives, both public and private, are meant to display reverence, humility and love.
Here are three truths from today’s passage.
- Our lives should reflect the One we follow.
“Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.” Paul begins with a simple invitation: imitate me only as I imitate Christ. The goal is not to copy a person but to reflect the Savior. Every believer is called to live in a way that points beyond us, a life shaped by Christ’s humility, obedience and love.

Worship invites us into a posture of honor and humility. “Every man who prays or prophesies… every woman who prays or prophesies…” Paul addresses cultural expressions of honor in Corinth, but his deeper point is timeless: worship should be done with reverence. When we come before God, our posture, inward and outward, should reflect reverence. Humility is not weakness but the heart’s way of saying, “God, You are worthy.”

God’s design calls us into mutual honor, not competition. “In the Lord, woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman.” Paul lifts their eyes beyond cultural debates to a greater truth: in Christ, we belong to one another. Men and women are not rivals but partners. Each honors the other. Each reflects God’s image. Worship becomes beautiful when we embrace God’s design with humility and mutual respect.
