Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 10:23–33

In today’s passage, Apostle Paul was responding to practical questions from the Corinthians about daily life; what they could eat, where they could go, how their choices affected others. Paul gave a thought-provoking response: freedom is real, but love must guide how we use it. Christian maturity is not measured by what we are allowed to do, but by how our choices build up others and honor Christ.

Here are three truths from today’s passage.

  1. Freedom is shaped by what builds up, not what tears down. “I have the right to do anything,’ you say — but not everything is beneficial.”. The question is not ‘Can I?’ but ‘Does this help?’ Freedom without love becomes self-centered. Freedom guided by love becomes a blessing. Mature believers think beyond themselves and consider the impact of their choices.

  2. Love pays attention to the conscience of others. “Do not cause anyone to stumble… whether Jews, Greeks, or the church of God.” Paul is calling us to live with sensitivity. Our choices can either strengthen someone’s faith or unsettle it. Love notices the people around us, their history, their struggles, their questions, and chooses what brings peace, not confusion.

  3. Every ordinary moment becomes worship when done for God’s glory. “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” Everything comes down to one simple aim: glorifying God. Not just in worship, but in meals, conversations, decisions, and daily routines. When Christ becomes the center, even the smallest choices become opportunities to reflect His goodness.
