Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 7:25–40

In today’s passage, Paul speaks about believers discerning whether to marry or remain single. In a time of cultural pressure and spiritual uncertainty, he reminds the church that devotion to Christ is the anchor. Whether married or single, what matters most is a heart free from distraction and rooted in grace.

Here are three truths from today’s passage

  1. Singleness is a gift of undivided devotion. “I think that it is good for a man to remain as he is.” Paul affirms that singleness can be a place of clarity, focus, and spiritual fruitfulness. God is near in the quiet, and devotion can flourish without divided concerns.

  2. Marriage is honorable, but it brings real responsibility. “Those who marry will face many troubles in this life.” While Paul is not discouraging marriage, he is grounding the believers’ expectations. Marriage is a gift, but it comes with emotional, spiritual, and practical weights. Believers need to choose whether to marry or be single wisely.

  3. God leads with freedom, not fear. “But if her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes, but he must belong to the Lord.” God’s will is a path of peace and not a trap. Whatever choice you make, marriage or singleness, the most important thing is that Christ remains the center.

Pray with me: Dear Lord, please give me wisdom for my season. Teach me to walk with devotion, peace, and clarity, trusting that You lead me with love.
