Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 4:14–21

In today’s passage, Apostle Paul speaks to the Corinthians as a spiritual father who longs to see Christ formed in his children. Paul reminds them that the gospel is not only taught; it is demonstrated. He invites them to imitate his life because his life is shaped by Christ. This is a call to embodied discipleship.

Here are three truths from today’s passage:

  1. Spiritual correction should flow from love. Paul does not write to shame them but to warn them as beloved children. Godly correction is not driven by embarrassment or control. It comes from a heart that wants others to grow into maturity.

  2. The Christian life is learned through example. Paul says, “Imitate me.” He sends Timothy to remind them of his way of life in Christ. Truth becomes visible through people who live it. We need godly examples, and we are also becoming examples for others.

  3. God’s kingdom is demonstrated by power, not empty talk. Some people were arrogant because they assumed Paul would not come. But Paul reminds them that the kingdom is not a matter of words but of power. The gospel produces real transformation, humility, holiness, and love.

This passage invites us to receive correction with humility and to live as examples of Christ. Our words should be matched by a life shaped by grace. The goal is not imitation of personality but imitation of Christlike character.
