Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 3:10–15

For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 3:11

In today’s passage, Apostle Paul describes the Christian life as a building project. He had laid the foundation by preaching Christ, and others were continuing the work. But Paul gives a serious reminder: the foundation is already fixed. No one can build on anything other than Jesus Christ. The question is not whether we are building, but what we are building with.

Here are three truths from today’s passage:

  1. Christ is the only foundation that can hold our lives. Success, approval, relationships, and achievement cannot carry the weight of our identity. They shift and eventually fail. Jesus alone is steady, eternal, and strong enough to support everything God is building in us.

  2. The quality of our work matters to God. Paul compares our work to gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay, and straw. Some things endure; others disappear under testing. God is not only concerned with how much we do but with the motives, obedience, and faithfulness behind what we build.

  3. God will test what we build. The Day will reveal the quality of each person’s work. This is not meant to produce fear but honesty. God invites us to build with eternal materials: truth, love, humility, obedience, and service. What is built in Christ will last.

This passage invites us to examine the foundation and materials of our lives. Are we building on Christ? Are we investing in what will endure? God gives us grace to build carefully, faithfully, and with eternity in view.

Pray with me: Dear Lord, please help me build my life on Christ alone. Teach me to use what is eternal, pure, and pleasing to You.
