Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 1:26–31
In today’s passage, Apostle Paul invites the Corinthians to look honestly at their own story. Many of them were not influential, powerful, or impressive by the world’s standards. Yet God chose them and brought them into His family. Our place in God’s kingdom is not the result of human strength but divine grace. God delights in choosing what seems small so that His greatness is unmistakable. The cross has overturned human wisdom; it also overturns human boasting.
Here are three truths from today’s passage:

God’s calling is not based on human status. Paul reminds the Corinthians that God did not choose them because they were impressive. Their story began with grace, not merit. God’s kingdom is not built on human credentials. He calls ordinary people so that His extraordinary power is seen clearly.

God uses what seems weak to display His strength. God’s choices often run opposite to human expectations. He delights in lifting the humble, strengthening the weak, and working through what the world overlooks. God’s power shines brightest through vessels that cannot claim the glory for themselves.

Christ is our wisdom, righteousness, holiness, and redemption. Our standing before God is a gift we did not earn. Christ is our wisdom, righteousness, holiness and redemption. Every spiritual blessing flows from Him. Therefore, the only rightful boast of the believer is the Lord Himself.
Today’s passage invites us to rest in the grace that chose us, shaped us, and continues to sustain us. We do not stand before God because of our strength, intelligence, or background. We stand because of Christ’s work, wisdom and righteousness. Hence, our boast is only in what He has done and nothing we can ever do.
