Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 1:1–9

He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 Corinthians 1:8-9

In today’s passage, Paul begins his letter by reminding the Corinthians of the grace that already defines them. He anchors them in what God has done for them through Christ. They are “sanctified in Christ Jesus,” “called to be his holy people,” and “enriched in every way.” Their identity is rooted in God’s initiative and not in their performance. Paul wants them to see that the God who called them is the God who equips and sustains them. This holds true for us today. Grace is not only the starting point; it is the steady foundation beneath our entire life.

Here are three truths from today’s passage:

  1. We are called by God’s grace. Paul begins with who they are in Christ. The Corinthians were inconsistent and divided, yet Paul calls them holy because God had set them apart. Our calling rests on God’s grace, not our perfection. He names us before He shapes us.

  2. God has enriched us for every season. Paul reminds the Corinthian church that God has already supplied all the gifts, wisdom, and spiritual strength that they need. Their challenge was not lack of provision but lack of alignment. The same is true for us. God equips His people, even when we feel unprepared or inadequate.

  3. God’s faithfulness keeps us firm to the end. This passage grounds our confidence in God’s unwavering faithfulness. The One who called us will sustain us. The One who began the work will complete it. Our hope rests in His commitment, not our consistency.

Today’s passage invites us to rest in the God who calls, enriches, and sustains. Before we face our weaknesses, we remember His strength. Before we confront our failures, we remember His faithfulness. In every season, we are sustained by Grace.
