Scripture Reading: Hebrews 13:7–14

At the center of today’s passage is the statement: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” This single truth holds the entire paragraph together. We are surrounded by shifting circumstances and teachings that pulled in different directions. In the middle of all these, we are reminded that Christ does not change. His character remains steady. His promises remain sure. His saving work remains complete. This unchanging Christ becomes the reference point for how we remain steady and how we endure hardship.

Here are three truths from today’s passage:

  1. Remember those who shaped your walk with God. “Remember your leaders… consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.” The people who prayed for us, taught us, and modeled faithfulness leave a legacy worth imitating. But even as we honor them and follow their examples, we recognize that their example points us to Christ.

  2. Christ is the unchanging center of our lives. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Leaders change, seasons shift, cultures evolve but Jesus remains constant. His character, His promises, and His saving work do not move with time. Because He is unchanging, we are urged not to be carried away by teachings that distract from Him. Christ alone is our stability.

  3. Following Christ may lead us outside the familiar. Following Christ may require us to face discomfort or misunderstanding, but we do so knowing that our true home is not here. “For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.” Our hope is anchored in what God is preparing for us.

Pray with me: Dear Lord, thank You for those who helped shape my faith. Keep my heart anchored in Jesus. Give me courage to follow Him wherever He leads.
