Scripture Reading: Hebrews 12:1–3

“... let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us” Hebrews 12:1

Today’s passage calls us to run the race of faith with endurance, drawing strength from the great cloud of witnesses who have gone before us. Their lives remind us that faith is not merely believing God exists but choosing perseverance when weariness sets in, choosing discipline when the path feels demanding, and choosing to fix our eyes on Jesus when

Here are three truths from today’s passage

  1. We run surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses. The heroes of Hebrews 11 are living testimonies that faith is possible. Their stories whisper to us: “God is faithful. Keep going.” We do not run alone. We run in the company of those who trusted God through weakness, suffering, and uncertainty, and finished their race.

  2. We run lighter when we lay aside what slows us down. Some things are sinful; others are simply heavy. Both can slow our souls. Faith requires us to intentionally release habits, distractions, and patterns that drain spiritual strength. Our endurance grows when our heart is uncluttered.

  3. We run with endurance by fixing our eyes on Jesus. He is the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. He ran His race with joy. He endured the cross, despised its shame, and now sits at the right hand of God. When we grow weary, we look to Him. When we feel discouraged, we consider His endurance. Strength rises when our gaze shifts from our struggle to our Savior.

This passage calls us to a focused, steady, Jesus-centered endurance. The race is long, but the One who ran before us now runs with us. Faith is about perseverance, running one step, one breath, one act of trust at a time.

Pray with me: Dear Lord, please help me run with endurance. Teach me to fix my eyes on Jesus and draw strength from His example.
