Scripture Reading: Hebrews 11:23–31

By faith Moses’ parents hid him for three months after he was born, because they saw he was no ordinary child, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict. Hebrews 11:23–31

Today’s passage highlights men and women whose faith empowered them to stand against fear, pressure, and impossible odds. Their stories remind us that faith is not merely believing God exists but choosing courage when fear is loud, choosing obedience when the cost is high, and choosing loyalty to God when the world demands compromise.

Here are three truths from today’s passage

  1. Faith chooses courage when fear surrounds us. Moses’ parents hid him for three months because they saw he was no ordinary child, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict. Faith does not deny danger; it refuses to be ruled by it. Faith sees God’s purpose even when circumstances look threatening.

  2. Faith chooses identity with God’s people over the pleasures of the world. Moses refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose mistreatment with God’s people rather than the fleeting pleasures of Egypt. He considered disgrace for Christ greater wealth than the treasures of the empire. Faith reorders our values. It teaches us that eternal reward outweighs temporary comfort. It anchors our identity in God, not in status, privilege, or opportunity.

  3. Faith obeys God even when obedience seems impossible.

Moses kept the Passover, trusting that God would protect His people. Israel walked through the Red Sea as on dry land. Rahab welcomed the spies and was spared when Jericho fell. Each act of obedience defied logic, fear, and human expectation. Faith does not wait for perfect conditions; it moves because God has spoken. It sees God’s power where others see only obstacles.

Pray with me: Dear Lord, please give me a faith that stands firm when fear rises, and chooses You over comfort.
