Scripture Reading: Hebrews 11:1–7

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1

Faith is not vague optimism or spiritual guesswork. It is confidence in what God has promised and conviction about realities we cannot yet see. Today’s passage gives us examples of earliest stories of Scripture to show that faith has always been the way God’s people live, trust, and obey.

Here are three truths from today’s passage

  1. Faith gives substance to what God has promised. Faith takes God’s promises so seriously that they become more real than present circumstances. It anchors us when the path is unclear. It steadies us when the future feels distant. Faith is not rooted in emotion but in the reliability of God Himself.

  2. Faith has always been the way God’s people please Him. God is not impressed by performance, pedigree, or perfection. He is pleased by trust, by hearts that take Him at His word. Faith honors God because it treats Him as true, faithful, and worthy of obedience even when the outcome is unseen.

  3. The earliest believers show us what faith looks like in motion. Abel offered a better sacrifice because his heart trusted God. Enoch walked with God in steady, quiet devotion, and God delighted in him. Noah obeyed a warning about things not yet seen and built an ark long before the rain came. Each of them acted on God’s word before the evidence appeared.

This passage invites us to live with a faith that sees beyond the visible. A faith that listens when God speaks. A faith that obeys even when the outcome is unclear. A faith that rests in the character of the One who cannot lie. A faith that trusts God when obedience made no sense to the world around them.

Pray with me: Dear Lord, please strengthen my faith to trust what I cannot yet see. Help me walk with You like Enoch, obey You like Noah, and offer my life with the sincerity of Abel.
