Scripture Reading: Hebrews 10:19–25

“Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings...” Hebrews 10:22

Today’s passage turns to the practical implications. If Jesus has opened the way into God’s presence… if His blood has cleansed our conscience… if His priesthood is perfect and permanent… then how should we live? This passage gives three responses; these three movements of the heart that define life under the new covenant.

Here are three truths from today’s passage

  1. We draw near because the way is open. Under the old covenant, access to God was restricted. Only the high priest entered the inner sanctuary, and only once a year. But now, through Christ’s body and blood, the curtain is torn. The way is open. We draw near with confidence and not fear, without guilt but with a clean conscience and with full assurance of faith.

  2. We hold fast because our hope is anchored in God’s faithfulness. Our grip may weaken, but God’s promise does not. Our emotions may fluctuate, but His character does not. Our circumstances may shift, but His covenant stands firm. We hold fast not because we are strong, but because He who promised is faithful.

  3. We stir one another because faith flourishes in community. Faith is personal, but never private. Hope is individual but never isolated. Today’s passage invites us to think creatively about how to strengthen one another. We are not to neglect believers’ gathering, because perseverance grows in community, not solitude.

This passage invites us to boldly draw near to God because Jesus has given us divine access, hold fast to God with an unwavering trust because He can never fail us and stir one another toward a life that reflects the beauty of the gospel.
