Today’s passage brings us to the heart of the gospel, the meaning of Christ’s death. Jesus is not only the mediator of a new covenant; He is also the sacrifice that makes that covenant possible. The old covenant required repeated offerings because sin was never fully removed. But Christ’s sacrifice is different. It is final. It is complete. It is once for all.
Here are two truths from today’s passage

Christ’s death establishes the new covenant. The old covenant was inaugurated with the blood of animals, but the new covenant required a greater sacrifice. Jesus’ death activates the promises of the new covenant: forgiveness, cleansing, and eternal inheritance. His blood does what no ritual ever could; it opens the way to God permanently.

Earthly sacrifices were copies; Christ’s sacrifice is the reality. Priests entered a man-made sanctuary with animal blood. Jesus entered heaven itself with His own blood. The old system was a shadow, a symbol pointing forward. Christ is the substance. His sacrifice does not need to be repeated because it actually removes sin, not just covers it temporarily.
This passage invites us to rest in the finality of Christ’s work. We do not live under the weight of repeated sacrifices or lingering guilt. We live under a Savior whose one offering is eternally effective. His blood cleanses. His covenant stands. His return will complete what His cross began.
Pray with me: Dear Lord, thank You for the once-for-all sacrifice of Christ. Please help me rest in the finality of His work, trust the power of His blood, and wait with hope for His return.
