Scripture Reading: Hebrews 8:1-13
“This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds...” Hebrews 8:10
Hebrews 8 gathers everything we’ve learned about Jesus’ superior priesthood and shows us the breathtaking result: God has established a new covenant through Christ, one that is better in every way. The old covenant was holy, but it was temporary. It revealed God’s standards but could not change the human heart. The new covenant does what the old never could: it transforms us from within.
Here are three truths from today’s passage

Jesus ministers in the true sanctuary. Earthly priests served in a tabernacle that was a shadow – a temporary model of heavenly reality. But Jesus serves in the true sanctuary, the very presence of God. He represents us directly before God. His ministry is ultimate, final, and eternally effective.

The new covenant is built on better promises. The old covenant depended on human obedience. And Israel broke it again and again. The new covenant depends on God’s faithfulness. God promises to write His law on our hearts. God promises that we will know Him personally. He promises to forgive our sins completely. These promises do not rest on our strength but on His grace.

God’s forgiveness under the new covenant is complete and final. Under the new covenant, sin is not temporarily covered; it is removed. God does not revisit it. He does not hold it over us. He does not bring it back for review. The new covenant gives us a clean conscience and a restored relationship with God.
This passage invites us to rest in what Jesus has secured. We are not striving to earn God’s favor. We are living from a place of grace. The law is no longer external rules but internal transformation. The sanctuary is no longer a tent but the very presence of God. And forgiveness is no longer temporary but eternal.
