Scripture Reading: Hebrews 1:5–14

But about the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom. Hebrews 1:8

In today’s passage, the writer of Hebrews continues to highlight the supremacy of Christ. Jesus is infinitely greater than Angels. The Father calls Jesus “God.” He declares His throne eternal, His rule righteous, and His nature unchanging. While creation wears out like a garment, Jesus remains the same forever. This is a revelation of Christ’s divine identity and eternal kingship. Hebrews wants us to see Jesus not only as Savior, but as the enthroned God who reigns with justice, joy, and unshakable authority.

Here are three truths from today’s passage

  1. Jesus reigns with divine authority. God Himself says to the Son, “Your throne, O God, will last forever.” This is a divine declaration of the deity of Jesus. He is not waiting to become King, He is already enthroned. His rule is eternal, His authority unmatched, and His kingdom unshakable.

  2. Jesus is worshipped and served by Angels. The writer quotes Scripture to show that angels bow before Him. Even though they are revered, swift servants of God’s purpose, they worship Jesus because He is God. Jesus sits enthroned forever. Worship belongs to Him alone.

  3. Jesus is unchanging in a changing world. Creation ages. Seasons shift. People change. Circumstances rise and fall. But Jesus remains the same. He is the constant in every storm, the anchor in every transition, the One whose nature never shifts with time.

This passage invites us to worship Jesus with reverence and confidence. He is not merely a historical figure or a spiritual teacher. He is the enthroned God, eternal in power, righteous in rule, and unchanging in His nature.
