Scripture Reading: Ephesians 6:19–24

“Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel.” Ephesians 6:19

Apostle Paul closes his letter to the Ephesians with a request for prayer and a blessing of peace, love, faith, and grace. Even in chains, his focus is the gospel. He longs for boldness, clarity, and courage. He wants to speak fearlessly about Christ, even while imprisoned for that very message. His closing words remind us that the Christian life is sustained by prayer, strengthened by community, and anchored in the peace and grace of God.

Here are three truths from today’s passage:

  1. Boldness comes from God, not personality. Even as an apostle, preacher, and missionary, Paul still asks for prayer to speak fearlessly. Boldness is not natural confidence; it is Spirit-empowered courage. It is God giving us words, strength, and clarity when we need them most. If Paul needed prayer for boldness, so do we.

  2. Ministry is strengthened through community. Paul sends Tychicus to encourage the believers and update them on his situation. Even the strongest leaders need support. The gospel is never carried alone. God uses people to strengthen our hearts, remind us of truth, and help us stand firm. Encouragement is a ministry every believer can give.

  3. God’s grace sustain us. Paul ends with a blessing: peace to the brothers and sisters, love with faith, and grace to all who love Christ. Peace steadies us. Love anchors us. Faith strengthens us. Grace carries us. These gifts come from God and keep us faithful to the end.

Today’s passage invites us to pray for boldness, to value the encouragement of community, and to rest in the peace and grace God freely gives. Like Paul, we are called to make Christ known with courage, humility, and unwavering trust in God’s strength.
