Scripture Reading: Ephesians 6:10–18
“Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” Ephesians 6:10
In today’s passage, Apostle Paul reminds believers that the Christian life is not lived on neutral ground. We are in a spiritual battle1 This battle is not against people, but against unseen forces that oppose God’s purposes. Paul calls us to stand firm in the strength of the Lord. God provides everything we need, truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and His Word, to stand against the enemy’s schemes.
Here are three truths from today’s passage:

Our strength comes from the Lord, not ourselves. Spiritual strength is not something we muster; it is something we draw from God’s power. We stand firm not because we are capable, but because He is faithful. The battle belongs to the Lord, and He equips us to stand.

God gives us armor for spiritual battles. Paul describes the armor of God; truth as a belt, righteousness as a breastplate, peace as shoes, faith as a shield, salvation as a helmet, and the Word of God as a sword. Each piece protects us from lies, accusations, fear, and temptation. This armor is a spiritual reality. When we put it on, we stand covered in Christ Himself.

Prayer is the posture that keeps us standing. Paul ends by urging believers to “pray in the Spirit on all occasions.” Prayer is not an accessory to the armor. It is the atmosphere in which the armor works. Prayer keeps us alert, dependent, and connected to the strength of God. It is how we fight, how we stand, and how we remain anchored in Christ.
This passage invites us to stand firm, not in our own ability, but in the power of God. We are called to put on the armor He provides. We are to pray with perseverance and to remember that victory is found only in standing in Christ.
Pray with me: Dear Lord, please strengthen me with Your power. Clothe me with Your armor and help me stand firm against every scheme of the enemy. Teach me to pray with perseverance and to trust in Your victory.
