Scripture Reading: Ephesians 6:1–9
“Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people.” Ephesians 6:7
In today’s passage, Apostle Paul continues his teaching on Spirit-filled relationships by addressing how we should live out our faith in everyday places. He speaks to children, parents, servants, and masters and shows that the gospel reshapes how we relate to one another. These verses are not about hierarchy but about heart posture. He wants us to understand that every act of obedience, honor, and service becomes worship when done unto the Lord. The gospel transforms ordinary roles into sacred assignments.
Here are three truths from today’s passage:

Obedience and honor reflect our relationship with God. Paul calls children to obey their parents “in the Lord”. This reminds us that obedience is ultimately an act of worship. Honor is about recognizing God’s order and responding with respect. When we honor those God has placed in our lives, we reflect the humility of Christ.

Leadership must be gentle and life-giving. Paul instructs fathers not to provoke their children but to raise them with nurture and instruction. Authority in the kingdom is never harsh or domineering. It is patient, guiding, and rooted in love. Godly leadership reflects the heart of the Father, firm in truth and rich in compassion.

Our work becomes worship when done for Christ. Paul tells servants to work with sincerity, not to impress people but to serve the Lord. And he reminds masters to treat those under their authority with justice and humility. The principle is clear: whether leading or following, we do everything as unto Christ. He is the true Master we serve.
This passage invites us to bring Christ into the ordinary rhythms of life, our homes, our responsibilities, our work. It calls us to obedience rooted in love, leadership shaped by grace, and service offered wholeheartedly to the Lord. When we live this way, even the simplest tasks become expressions of worship.
Pray with me: Dear Lord, please help me honor You in my relationships and responsibilities. Teach me to serve wholeheartedly, lead with grace, and walk in obedience that reflects Your heart.
