Scripture Reading: Ephesians 5:15–20

“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise…” Ephesians 5:15

In today’s passage, Apostle Paul urges believers to walk with intentionality. Wisdom is not accidental. It is the result of paying attention to how we live, how we think, and what we allow to shape us. He went ahead to say ‘the days are evil’ not to frighten us, but to remind us that spiritual drift is real. If we do not walk carefully, we will walk carelessly. Paul invites us into a life marked by wisdom, clarity, and Spirit-filled joy.

Here are three truths from today’s passage:

  1. Wisdom requires intentional living. Paul tells us to “be very careful” in how we live. Wisdom is not simply knowing the right thing. But also choosing to do the right thing. It is paying attention to our steps, our habits, and our influences. The wise do not waste time; they redeem it. They recognize that every moment is an opportunity to honor God.

  2. Understanding God’s will brings clarity. God’s will is not hidden from those who seek Him. It is revealed in His Word, His Spirit, and His character. When we pursue His will, confusion gives way to clarity, and aimlessness gives way to purpose.

  3. The Spirit fills us with worship and gratitude. Paul contrasts being drunk with wine with being filled with the Spirit. One leads to loss of control; the other leads to joyful surrender. A Spirit-filled life overflows with worship and with gratitude that rises from the heart regardless of circumstances.

This passage invites us to walk wisely, redeem our time, and stay sensitive to the Spirit’s leading. It calls us to a life marked by clarity, worship, and gratitude. When we walk carefully and live intentionally, we reflect the wisdom of the One who guides us.

Pray with me: Dear Lord, please teach me to walk wisely. Help me redeem my time, understand Your will, and stay filled with Your Spirit.
