Scripture Reading: Ephesians 2:11–22

“But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.” Ephesians 2:13

In this passage, Apostle. Paul invites us to remember where grace found us. Before Christ, we were spiritually distant; outside the promises, outside the covenant, outside the family of God. We were far from hope and far from God. Only when we remember how far we were can we appreciate how close we now stand.

Here are three truths from today’s passage:

  1. Christ brings the far near. We didn’t work our way toward God. We didn’t climb into His presence. Christ brought us near through His blood. The distance created by sin has been closed by the sacrifice of Jesus. Near to God. Near to His people. Near to His promises. Near to His heart.

  2. Christ Himself is our peace. Paul doesn’t say Christ gives peace but instead he said He is peace. Through His cross, He tears down walls of hostility and creates one new humanity. Jew and Gentile, near and far, all reconciled in one body. The cross doesn’t just reconcile us to God; it reconciles us to one another. Hostility dies where Christ reigns.

  3. We are now God’s family and God’s dwelling. We are no longer strangers or outsiders. We are fellow citizens with God’s people and members of His household. Christ is the cornerstone, holding the whole structure together. And we are being built into a holy temple where God’s Spirit dwells. God is not just saving individuals; He is forming a people who carry His presence.

This passage invites us to rest in the nearness Christ has given us. To walk in the peace He has made. To see every believer as family. And to remember that God is shaping us, together, into a dwelling place for His Spirit.

Pray with me: Dear Lord, thank You for bringing me near through the blood of Christ. Please build me into Your dwelling place and help me walk in the peace You have made.
