Scripture Reading: Ephesians 1:19–23

“…his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead…” Ephesians 1:19

Paul wants believers to understand something incredible: the power at work in us is the same power that raised Jesus from the dead. Not a lesser version. Not a diluted form. The same power. How incredible!

Here are three truths from this passage.

  1. The resurrection power is available to us. If you want to know what God can do, look at the empty tomb. He brings life out of death, hope out of despair and victory out of defeat. The resurrection is God’s declaration that nothing, absolutely nothing, is beyond His reach. And Paul says this incomparably great power is “for us who believe”. This power is directed toward us. It is active, personal and present with us, in us and for us.

  2. Christ reigns above every power, seen and unseen. Paul lifts our eyes to the throne to see the enormity of God’s power in Christ so we can understand what we have in Him. He is enthroned above every earthly and spiritual power. Every name, every system, every force, present or future, bows beneath Him. This is the Christ who holds us, leads us, and intercedes for us.

  3. We are His body, filled with His fullness. This is one of Paul’s most breathtaking statements. The church is not a building or an institution. It is Christ’s body. His life flows through us. His presence fills us. And His fullness shapes us. His authority is exercised for the good of His people. Everything He governs, He governs with the church in mind.

This passage invites us to live with confidence in the risen Christ who reigns above all things and fills His people with resurrection power. We are not powerless. We are not abandoned. We are held by the One who conquered death and rules forever.
