Scripture Reading: Ephesians 1:15–18
“…that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you…” Ephesians 1:18
In today’s passage, Apostle Paul prays for the people who have received salvation. He isn’t praying for material blessings or easier circumstances. He’s praying for something deeper; that believers would truly see. That they may see the fullness of what it means to belong to Christ.
Here are three truths from today’s passage:

Spiritual growth begins with revelation, not effort. Paul knows that knowing God isn’t something we achieve. It’s something God reveals. The knowledge of God that births true transformation, comes by revelation. Here, Paul is praying that the Father would open our understanding so we can know Him; not just know about Him, but know Him personally, intimately, deeply.

God wants to open the eyes of our hearts. The “eyes of the heart” means the inner place where we perceive truth. It's the place where we understand who God is and who we are. Paul prays for clarity, illumination, and spiritual sight. He knows that when our hearts see clearly, everything else changes.

Our calling becomes real when God opens our eyes. Paul wants us to grasp the weight of our calling, the hope that anchors us, the inheritance that awaits us and the glory that surrounds us. These are realities God wants us to experience with spiritual clarity. Unless our eyes are opened, we cannot understand these realities.
This passage invites us to slow down and ask God to help us see. To see His heart. To see His purpose. To see the hope that is already ours in Christ. When the eyes of our heart are opened, our faith deepens, our understanding grows, and our lives begin to reflect the glory of the One who called us.
