Scripture Reading: Philippians 2:1-11
“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.” Philippians 2:5
In today’s passage, Paul calls the church to a radical kind of unity. One that is rooted not in agreement alone, but in humility, love, and shared surrender. The foundation is Christ Himself. His mindset was not self-promotion but self-emptying. Though He was God, He chose the path of a servant. Though He had every right to glory, He embraced the cross. This is the pattern we’re called to follow, not just in theory, but in every relationship.
Here are three truths from this passage:

Unity flows from shared surrender. Paul urges believers to be “like-minded,” “one in spirit,” and “of one mind.” This unity is not uniformity. It’s a shared posture of humility and love. It begins with encouragement in Christ, comfort from His love, and fellowship in the Spirit. When we surrender our pride, unity becomes possible.

Humility is the way of Christ. Jesus did not grasp for status. He emptied Himself. He took the form of a servant. He humbled Himself to death, even death on a cross. This is not weakness but divine strength. The way up is down. The way to glory is through surrender.

Exaltation belongs to God alone. Because of Christ’s obedience, God exalted Him. Every knee will bow. Every tongue will confess. The glory belongs to Him. Our role is not to seek recognition, but to reflect His humility. When we live this way, we point others to the One who is truly worthy.
Today passage calls us to adopt the mindset of Christ, which is to lay down selfish ambition, to lift others up, and to walk in humility. In doing so, we reflect the gospel not just in words, but in the way we live and love.
