Scripture Reading: Romans 16:1–27
“Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my co-workers in Christ Jesus. They risked their lives for me.” Romans 16:3
The final chapter of the book of Romans contains a list of names, greetings, warnings, and praise. It is a portrait of gospel partnership. These men and women, households and churches, labored, suffered, hosted, and served. They were not spectators; they were participants in the mission of Christ. Paul honors them because the gospel advances through people. People who are redeemed, faithful, and willing to pour out their lives for the sake of others.
Here are three truths from today’s passage:

Gospel partnership is personal and costly. Phoebe is commended as a servant and benefactor. Priscilla and Aquila risked their lives. Mary, Tryphena, Tryphosa, and Persis worked hard in the Lord. Rufus’s mother cared for Paul like her own son. These list of names are testimonies. Gospel partnership is personal, sacrificial, and deeply relational. The tapestry of gospel partnership weaves together diverse lives, each offering unique gifts and sacrifices for the sake of Christ.

Discernment Protects the Gospel. Paul urges the church to watch out for those who divide and deceive. Smooth talk and flattery may sound spiritual, but they serve self, not Christ. The redeemed life is marked by obedience, wisdom, and innocence. Gospel partnership includes guarding the truth and protecting the flock. Unity must be built on sound teaching, not sentiment.

Final Praise Belongs to God Alone. Paul closes with praise to the God who establishes His people, reveals His mystery, and brings the nations to obedience through Christ. The gospel is not man’s invention; it is God’s eternal plan. Gospel partnership is not about our names, our labor, or our legacy. It is about the glory of the One who saves, sends, and sustains.
Today’s passage reminds us that the gospel is carried by people. This partnership honors the faithful, warns the vulnerable, and worships the eternal God. Partners in the gospel are not perfect, but they are redeemed, committed, and united in purpose. Every name, every effort, every prayer is part of the story God is writing.
