Scripture Reading: Romans 3:1-20
“There is no one righteous, not even one.” Romans 3:10
In today’s passage, Paul continues to address both Jew and Gentile, showing that privilege and heritage cannot erase guilt. He confronts the universal reality of human brokenness and points us to our desperate need for grace. He dismantles every excuse and every claim to righteousness. Whether Jew or Gentile, all stand guilty before God. The law reveals sin but cannot save. This passage
Here are two truths from this passage.
Sin is universal. Paul strings together Scripture to show the depth of human corruption. Our words, actions, and desires all reveal brokenness. No individual or group escapes this reality. Everyone, regardless of background, is affected by sin. This compels us to look honestly at our hearts and recognize that our common struggle with sin levels the playing field for all people.
Human effort cannot achieve righteousness. Our best intentions and religious observances fall short of God’s perfect standard. Even the law cannot save us! It rather exposes our need for grace. It reveals sin and holds us accountable so that it can silence pride and prepare us for the righteousness that comes by faith in Christ.
Today’s passage humbles us. It makes clear the gravity of our condition. Moreso, it reveals the hope we have in Christ. Our inability to attain righteousness on our own highlights the necessity of divine intervention. When pride is stripped away and excuses are silenced, we are invited to receive the gift of righteousness, not by our own merit, but through faith in Jesus. Instead of mourning our inability to measure up, we can rest in the assurance that God’s grace is sufficient, and His promises endure.
Today, I invite you to acknowledge your need for God’s help and open your arms wide to receive His righteousness through Christ.
