Scripture Reading: John 20:19–31
Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” John 20:21
After the death of Jesus, the disciples were hiding behind locked doors, fearful and uncertain. Jesus came among them and declared, “Peace be with you!” In this moment, Jesus commissions His disciples, calling them to continue the work that the Father began in Him.
Here are three truths from this passage: • Jesus brings peace in fear. The disciples were locked away, afraid of the Jewish leaders. Their Master has been killed! Yet Jesus came and stood among them, declaring, “Peace be with you!” His presence turns fear into joy. • Jesus empowers His followers for mission with the Spirit. He breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” Just as the Father sent Him, He now sends His disciples. • Jesus transforms doubt into faith. Thomas demanded proof before he could believe Jesus has risen. Rather than condemning Thomas, Jesus met him in his doubt, inviting him to touch His wounds.
This passage shows the Risen Lord as both our comforter and sender. He brings peace to the fearful, power to the weak, and faith to the doubting.
Pray with me: Lord Jesus, thank You for bringing peace into my fears and faith in place of doubt. Help me to live as Your witness every day of my life
