Scripture Reading: John 17: 3–26.
My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message,” John 17:20
As Jesus nears the cross, His heart turns outward to the future church. He prays for unity, love, and eternal fellowship. In this sacred moment, Jesus’s prayer reaches into the hearts of all who would follow Him, spanning generations and cultures.
Here are three truths from Jesus’ Prayers
- You are included in Jesus’s prayer. Long before we believed, Jesus prayed for us. His intercession reaches across time, reminding us that our faith is part of a larger story. We are carried in His heart.
- Jesus prays for protection and sanctification for His followers. He desires that we remain steadfast in faith, preserved from evil, and set apart for God's purposes.
- Jesus prays for unity among believers. The oneness He desires is modeled after the unity of the Father and the Son. This unity is not uniformity, but love expressed in diversity.
This prayer is breathtaking because it shows Jesus’s care for His people across all ages. He prays for joy, protection, sanctification, unity, and love.
Declare today: Lord Jesus, thank You for praying for me. May my life reflect the reality of Your prayer, so that the world may believe You are the Son of God.
