Scripture Reading: John 17: 1-12.

Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. John 17:3

In today’s passage, Jesus reveals that eternal life means having a relationship with the Father and the Son, not just unending existence or avoiding judgment. Eternal life is defined by relationship—knowing the Father and the Son. This knowledge is experiential, covenantal, and transformative.

Here are three truths about eternal life:

  1. Eternal life is relational. It is about knowing God personally, not just knowing about Him. Beyond rituals or surface-level belief, eternal life invites us into genuine fellowship with the Father through Jesus.
  2. Eternal life is Christ-centered. Jesus makes it clear: eternal life is inseparable from Him. To know the Father is to know the Son, and to know the Son is to know the Father. He is the mediator, the revealer, and the giver of life.
  3. Eternal life begins now. It is not only a future promise but a present reality. The moment we believe in Christ, we enter into this life of knowing God. Eternal life shapes our character, fills us with joy, and anchors us in hope.

Eternal life is not measured in years but in depth of relationship. It begins now and stretches into eternity.

Pray with me: Father, thank You for the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Help me to know You more deeply, to walk in fellowship with You daily, and to reflect Your glory in all I do.
