Scripture Reading: John 14:1–14.
I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” — John 14:6
In this moment, Jesus has just revealed that He will be leaving them soon. The atmosphere is heavy; anxiety and sorrow are palpable as they try to comprehend what lies ahead. In the midst of this turmoil, Jesus speaks words of profound reassurance.
“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
- Jesus is the way to the Father. Jesus was unmistakably clear in this statement. He is ‘the Way’ to God. When Jesus says, “I am the way”, He is not simply showing a path or offering directions. He Himself is the path to God.
- Jesus is the Truth. In a world filled with shifting beliefs and uncertain voices, Jesus stands as the unchanging standard of what is real and trustworthy. His words are not just wise sayings; they carry divine authority because He speaks directly from the Father.
- Jesus is Life. Jesus is the source and origin of life. He does not simply offer a distant promise of life after death; He invites each of us into a present, vibrant relationship with Him.
Understanding this threefold declaration from Jesus—way, truth, and life—reshapes how we approach our faith journey. It means that our relationship with God is not based on our own efforts or understanding, but on the person and work of Christ.
Declare today: Jesus, You are the way when I feel lost, the truth when I feel confused, and the life when I feel weary. I trust You to lead me into the Father’s presence.
