Scripture Reading: John 10:27-28.
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.” — John 10:27–28
In this passage, Jesus continues His dialogue with the religious leaders, revealing the depth of His relationship with those who truly follow Him. He uses the imagery of sheep and shepherd—not as a distant metaphor, but as a tender portrait of intimacy, trust, and eternal security.
This passage reveals two powerful truths about the relationship between the Shepherd and His sheep:
- “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” Jesus knows His sheep intimately—each one by name, each voice, each story. This relationship is reciprocal: the sheep respond to His voice with trust and obedience.
- “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish.” Jesus offers more than guidance—He offers eternal security. The gift of eternal life is not earned; it’s given. And with it comes the promise that no one can snatch His sheep from His hand.
This assurance brings profound comfort, especially in seasons of uncertainty. To be known by Jesus, to be led by His voice, and to be held in His hand—this is the foundation of lasting peace.
Declare today: Jesus, I hear Your voice and I choose to follow. Thank You for knowing me, leading me, and securing me in Your love. I rest in the promise that I will never be snatched from Your hand.
