Scripture Reading: John 7:18
Whoever speaks on their own does so to gain personal glory, but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him” John 7:18.
Throughout his ministry, Jesus consistently redirected recognition and honor toward God the Father. His teachings and actions were deliberately oriented to direct attention to the Father rather than to himself. When observers expressed amazement at Jesus’ knowledge and interpretation of Scripture, he responded by clarifying: “My teaching is not my own. It comes from the one who sent me.” This humility and focus on divine attribution characterized Jesus’ earthly life.
This teaching challenges us to regularly reflect on the motivations behind our words and actions, advocating that they should direct focus toward God as opposed to oneself. When we seek to honor God above all else, our lives reflect integrity and truthfulness. True fulfillment is found not in self-promotion, but in living for God's purposes and bringing glory to His name.
The pursuit of God’s glory purifies our intentions, anchors our identity, and transforms our influence.
Declare Today: Lord, let my words and actions reflect You. Strip away selfish ambition and fill me with a desire to glorify You alone. May my life point others to Your truth and love.
