For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.” John 6:38–40
Jesus, the eternal Son of God, had every right to make decisions—even perfect ones. Yet He laid down His will to serve the pleasure of the Father. His life was a daily submission, not to preference or convenience, but to divine instruction.
The will of the Father was the salvation of mankind through Christ—a path that led through suffering, rejection, and the cross. Though Jesus had a wish that the cup might pass, He never allowed His wish to override the Father’s will. He said, “Nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt.”
This is the heart of a servant: no personal agenda, no independent to-do list. A servant lives by the command of his Master, asking daily, “Lord, what would You have me do?” His joy is in obedience. His satisfaction is in finishing the work assigned to him.
Jesus endured the darkest valley, not for comfort, but to fulfill the Father’s will. And when He completed it, He declared, “It is finished.”
📣 Declare today: “I lay down my will to serve the pleasure of the Father. My joy is in obedience, and my satisfaction is in finishing His work.”
